Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Painter's tape (for alignment masking)

  • Isopropyl alcohol (70%+ rubbing alcohol)

  • Clean microfiber cloth

  • Optional: Heat gun or hair dryer (highly recommended for removal & cool weather)

  • Optional: Plastic trim tool or fishing line (if removing an old badge)

  • Optional: Adhesive remover (e.g., Goo Gone)

Step 1: Prep & Alignment (Crucial)

  1. Wash the Area: Ensure the vehicle fender is completely clean, free of dirt, mud, road salt, and wax.

  2. Mark the Location: If replacing an old badge, apply painter's tape tightly around the borders of the original emblem before removing it. This creates a perfect frame and ensures your new "24 VALVE CUMMINS" text sits level on the body line.

Step 2: Old Emblem Removal (If Applicable)

  1. Warm the Adhesive: Lightly heat the old emblem with a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the decades-old tape backing. Do not overheat the paint.

  2. Slice it Free: Work a length of fishing line or a plastic trim removal tool behind the emblem in a sawing motion to slice through the old adhesive foam.

  3. Clean the Residue: Use an adhesive remover to dissolve any leftover foam or sticky residue. Wipe the area completely dry.

Step 3: Surface Stripping

  1. Degrease: Wipe down the bare paint surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber towel.

  2. Dry: Allow it to flash dry. The surface must be completely naked (no oils, wax, or chemical residues) for the new adhesive to bond permanently.

Step 4: Application

  1. Check Temperature: For best results, install in temperatures between 65°F and 90°F (18°C to 32°C). If it is cold outside, lightly warm the truck fender panel with your heat gun.

  2. Peel: Carefully peel the protective backing film from the rear of the new nameplate. Do not touch the exposed adhesive.

  3. Align & Stick: Align the nameplate within your painter's tape outline. Gently place it onto the panel.

  4. Apply Pressure: Press firmly across the entire emblem surface with a clean cloth for 30 to 60 seconds, ensuring all edges make solid contact.

Step 5: Curing

  1. Remove Tape: Carefully peel away your painter's tape alignment markers.

  2. Let it Set: Keep the vehicle dry and avoid washing it or driving at highway speeds for at least 24 to 48 hours to allow the adhesive to reach full cure strength.
